Head Coaches for every team are 100% volunteer positions and are selected each season by the IYF Board of Directors.  If you are interested in being a Head Coach, you’ll be required to complete the online IYF Coaches Application (Go to the IYF Registration site, create an account, and register as an adult in the Football program) and be available for an interview by the Coaching Committee. Criteria used to evaluate and prioritize coaching assignments include (not listed in priority order):

• Previous year’s assignment and staff
• Parent and Board coaching evaluations from prior seasons 
• Number of years head coaching with IYF
• Preference given to in-boundary coach over out-of-boundary coach
• Priority given to Parent/Guardian Coach who is moving up with his child
• Number of years of Middle or HS coaching experience
• Number of years of Youth Head coaching elsewhere
• If coach played at the Collegiate/Pro level
• If coach played at the HS level
• Number of years Youth Asst. Coaching
• Number of years coaching other sports
• Feedback from references with knowledge of your coaching experience 

   

**IYF and/or it’s designee reserves the right to evaluate additional experience and place appropriate value in it.  Such as: School teacher or administrator, or middle or high school coach – or other position demonstrating a significant amount of knowledge in working with young people.   Also, a prior negative history will be considered appropriately.

Want to be a member of the coaching staff?

Head Coaches have complete control over the selection of their own coaching staff.  If you are interested in becoming an assistant coach, please complete and submit the IYF Coaches Application (Go to the IYF Registration site, create an account, and register as an adult in the Football program) and indicate your specific coaching interests.  The Coaching Committee will review your application and supply to the appropriate Head Coach. 

Want to help the coaching staff?

The coaching staff will need lots of help.  There are many positions, such as Equipment Manager, Field Manager, Team Parent, Chain Gang, Public Announcer, and Videographer.  Talk with your Head Coach and let them know that you are interested.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is a requirement by the league that every parent that is going to be in direct contact with the players must complete a background check prior to stepping onto the field.
