Cheer Safety

Cheerleading is a sport and, with any sport, there is risk of injury.  Cheerleading is an activity that includes jumping, stunting, a wide range of motions, and tumbling.  Coaches should be informed of any injury or chronic conditions that exist prior to cheering.

Although the probability of injury is minimized if you practice correctly, there is always the possibility of one occurring.Injuries that can occur in cheerleading include, but are not limited to:

  • Blisters
  • Muscle strains
  • Sprains
  • Joint and muscle soreness
  • Abrasions
  • Stress fractures

All of the coaches take stunting seriously and do not want injuries.  Stunting is only allowed with a certified adult present.  If you wish that your child not participate in stunting, please bring that to the attention of the cheer squad director.
